I've often wondered if Craig's hearing is deteriorating or if the Alzheimer's is more progressed than I had hoped. So for a quick & inexpensive check (free, actually), we made an appointment at the Costco hearing center. As I waited while Craig's test was being administered I looked around at all the hearing paraphernalia and wondered if this was just a gimmick to sell hearing aids.
When his testing was completed and I was called in for the consult they said his hearing was well within the normal range except for high pitched noise. They said there was no need for hearing aids and to have his hearing checked again in a year as this could be an indication that his ability to hear was deteriorating. So that cleared up two issues. One, he can hear me, and Two, it wasn't a quick sell gimmick.
So, now that I know he can hear just fine and his nodding without a response to a question isn't hearing related, but Alzheimer's related.
Damn.
