Gifts

Today was a day filled with Gifts.
First, I witnessed Craig stand up by himself without prodding or help. He just grabbed a bar on the wall and stood himself up. It was HUGE. I thought to myself, "what a gift! Thank you Jesus!!!".
Then I got to witness this:
What a miracle! You have no idea. (Posted with permission by Bobby, Craig's afternoon/evening care manager) Bobby is phenomenal. He and another caregiver there have the highest work ethics I have been witness to in a very long time. They are always smiling, always more than willing and HAPPY to help. They treat the residents with care, courtesy, respect and dignity. It is really something to experience. It is very refreshing and they give me such peace when I know they are in charge of Craig. They take exceptional care of their residents. He couldn't be in better hands. Yes, I could go on and on about how phenomenal they are. I hope they are being well compensated for their commitment.

Tonight we treated the boys to Dick's burgers, milkshake and fries.  Take a look at Craig holding his own milkshake! Another miracle - usually he can't hold much of anything. But boy, he held onto that shake and even got the straw in his mouth by himself. Then the boys with bellies full, both dozed off...too cute!

Here is our HUGE MIRACLE. The young lady in the middle of Chuck and Craig is Chuck's granddaughter, Kjersten. I LOVE HER!! She is Craig's advocate, friend and protector when I can't be there. She watches out for Chuck and Craig at all times. She sits with Craig when he is agitated and calms him, she ensures he is well cared for. Again, I can't say enough good things about her. I am so thankful to God for this angel he has put in our life. I couldn't do this alone and God knows it. So He sent Kjersten and her Grandmother Barb.
