More Decline

Craig can go for months without change. However, when change comes it is pretty significant.

Craig's language skills have declined even more and he is almost to the point where he cannot bear weight even on good days. He rarely knows who I am anymore. Only on really good days now can I get an "I love you" out of him. Up until very recently this was a daily occurrence. He is physically strong and healthy, but his brain is taking down the signals he needs to function. Damned disease.

Yesterday he was in a hallucination pretty much all day long. This morning he was calm and quiet and obviously sad. I'm guessing he is aware of his situation. We just reassure him that he is in good care, we're taking care of everything and especially good care of him. "Okay. Good." is his response today. Now at noon, he is yelling in another hallucination. In hallucination days these words don't register in his mind and there is nothing to calm him.  He is adamantly somewhere else. A lot of times giving him a banana or feeding him a big warm meal will calm him. Good old comfort food. As I've said before, his Dr. says his yelling is good for his lungs. So we let him yell.

We are seeing more of the past in his hallucinations as he talks (when we can understand him) about business and calls out for Heidi - a former assistant, business partner or his sons.

In a nutshell he has again advanced and is slipping further away.
