A broken molar on a man with dementia who can no longer walk.... What does one do?
A cabulance to the dentist office? Holy cow! Each visit would cost about $200.00 roundtrip alone. And then you would also have the distress of the trip fueling the dementia AND Craig now gets car sick each time, leaving him open to the possibility of aspirating his vomit. Lovely visual, isn't it?
Thankfully a friend of Craig's was good enough to suggest a visiting dentist. I never knew such a service existed. Today the good doctor and his team came to the house to tend to Craig's teeth.
| Praise God. He just keeps on providing for Craig! |
Craig did alright. He was pretty agitated when the instruments were in his mouth, but he calmed right down once they were done. Poor Guy.
The dentist's diagnosis is that Craig will need an extraction of that broken tooth as well as other work done. They also told us that we were taking really good care of his teeth. (sigh of relief!)

It will take a few appointments to get all the work done, but Craig will be much more comfortable once completed.
He is sending out his hygienist to clean his teeth too. Yahoo!
They were phenomenally wonderful with Craig. I am highly impressed and relieved.
