Just Sayin'

Today we tested out the new sidewalk down the side of the house. We put a sweater on Craig, put him in his wheelchair and pushed him up the walk to the street. We walked him up the street in front of the house and around the other side.

Something incredible happened. Craig who had been his usually sedate and quiet all afternoon, came alive! He started smiling, laughing, talking, joking and making relative sense. We all looked at each other stunned at the astounding change in his demeanor.

After making plans to build a ramp up onto our deck that overlooks the fairway so Craig can enjoy the summer days up there, we took him back down the new sidewalk (which works perfectly - thanks Jeff!) and kept him outside on the patio while he finished his afternoon snack.

He continued to be alert and aware when he came back in and watched the news, comprehending it all. He was lively and happy the rest of this evening.

Will trips outside always work this miraculously? I don't know. But I'm just sayin', if the ramp to the upper deck wasn't a priority before, it is now.
